What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome.
What to expect?
Alpha runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes, online — you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but they generally all have three key things in common: food and hospitality, a talk and good conversation.

Alpha Catholic Context
In 2019, over 5,600 Catholic parishes and organizations around the world ran Alpha with an estimated 310,000 participants.

Many Catholic priests, leaders, and Alpha guests ask the question "Is Alpha Catholic?" A common response you will hear from priests and leaders in Catholic churches is "There is nothing about Alpha that is not Catholic." In fact, the content in the videos is the same for all Christian contexts, there is not a separate Catholic version. Alpha is about being introduced to the person of Christ and making that initial decision to trust and follow him. It is about the Kerygma, the basic message that is the core and heart of our faith. It is the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. This is Christianity and it is Catholic.
